PaintValues privacy policy

PaintValues is designed to prepare and analyze images on your device. The mobile app and interactive website editor keep image processing local. A separate authenticated AI-agent service processes only images deliberately submitted to it. The mobile app has no advertising, analytics, or tracking system. The website uses Google Analytics only after a visitor explicitly opts in.

No app data collectionThe developer does not receive images or app activity.
On-device processingEditing and color analysis run locally.
Optional web analyticsThe website analytics tag stays unloaded until you allow it.
Separate agent serviceAgent images are submitted intentionally and kept out of usage records.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the PaintValues website and the PaintValues mobile application for iOS and Android, developed by Stian Håve in Norway. A store, hosting provider, device maker, operating system, email provider, or app you choose from the share sheet applies its own policy.

Data the app accesses

Photos and camera

When you choose a source or overlay image, the operating-system picker gives the app access to that selected image. When you tap “Take a photo,” the app asks for camera access and receives the photo you take. PaintValues uses these images only to provide editing and analysis features on the device. It does not upload them to the developer.

Local preferences, saved Works, and unfinished recovery

The app stores your appearance preference locally. When you choose Save for the first time, PaintValues creates a Work in app-private storage. A Work includes a local source-image copy, any imported overlay-image copy, editor settings, crop, studies, guides, canvas measurements, drawing layers, workspace settings, and a thumbnail. Later changes to that Work save automatically. You can reopen, rename, or permanently delete each Work from Your Works. Undo and redo history is session-only and is not restored across launches.

The separate unfinished-work recovery option is off by default. If you enable it before manually saving a Work, the app keeps one source-image copy, any active imported overlay-image copy, and a bounded editor checkpoint in app-private storage so you can resume an interruption. The app does not silently restore or transmit saved Works or the recovery draft.

Temporary exports

PaintValues creates a PNG export in the app cache when you ask to share the edited image. It keeps that export in a dedicated app-private cache directory for the six-hour handoff window instead of deleting it when the share sheet closes. After the file is six hours old, the app removes it on a later editor lifecycle. The operating system may evict cached files earlier.

Clipboard

PaintValues writes a sampled color value to the system clipboard only after you tap its copy action. The app does not read clipboard contents. Other apps may access copied content under the operating system's rules.

Mobile-app data collection, sharing, and tracking

PaintValues does not send personal data, images, identifiers, diagnostics, or usage events to the developer or advertising partners. It does not use tracking technologies or request the advertising identifier.

Export uses the operating-system share sheet. A transfer occurs only after you choose a destination. The destination app or person then handles the exported file under their own terms. This user-directed transfer is not developer data collection or sale.

Retention and deletion

  • Shared exports remain in the dedicated app cache for the six-hour handoff window, then are deleted on a later editor lifecycle unless the operating system evicts them earlier.
  • Delete a Work from Your Works to remove its saved source image, any imported overlay image, thumbnail, editor state, guides, canvas settings, and drawing workspace from app-private storage.
  • Turn off “Autosave unfinished work” to remove its separate recovery draft, record, and recovery preference. This does not delete Works that you intentionally saved.
  • Use “Delete saved project” to remove the recovery draft while leaving unfinished-work autosave enabled.
  • Starting a new image after confirmation replaces only the unfinished recovery draft, not saved Works.
  • Uninstalling the app removes app-private data, subject to your operating system’s device-backup and restore behavior.

PaintValues does not itself upload Works or recovery data. Android cloud backup is disabled for the app. On iOS, user-controlled system backups may include app data according to Apple and device settings.

Security and third parties

App-private storage and operating-system permission controls protect local files. No security method can guarantee absolute protection of a device. PaintValues includes open-source software that runs as part of the app; it does not include advertising or analytics SDKs. Platform photo pickers, the camera interface, sharing, device backup, and any selected recipient are provided by third parties.

Interactive editor and AI-agent processing

The ordinary PaintValues image editor and converter process images in your browser and do not upload them. The authenticated AI-agent service at the same website is a separate workflow. It accepts a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image up to 10 MB from a private PaintValues upload or an HTTPS address only when an authorized user or agent requests processing.

Agent images are held in server memory while the requested value, color, edge, grid, isolation, conversion, or reference-sheet result is generated. A private image created through the agent upload page remains in private hosted storage for the configured short-term retention window, normally 24 hours, and can be removed sooner through the authorized deletion tool. Scheduled cleanup removes expired uploads. It is not copied into the website database or analytics system.

PaintValues records a pseudonymous account or agent-key identifier, tool name, time, success or failure, processing duration, byte counts, and image dimensions for reliability, abuse prevention, quotas, and aggregate product usage. Daily aggregate counters may be retained for up to 90 days. Operational records follow the hosting provider's configured retention. Neither record contains image contents, filenames, image URLs, prompts, email addresses, or access tokens.

Optional website analytics

The website has no advertising and does not load Google Analytics until you select “Allow analytics.” Declining leaves the analytics tag unloaded and sets no Google Analytics cookies. Your choice is stored in your browser for up to twelve months so the site can remember it. You can reopen “Privacy choices” on any page to change or withdraw that choice.

After consent, Google Analytics receives the page path without URL query parameters, page title, referring site origin, approximate location, browser and device characteristics, session information, and a pseudonymous browser identifier. It may set first-party cookies beginning with _ga; PaintValues limits their configured lifetime to 90 days. Source images, image contents, filenames, editor values, email addresses, account identifiers, and user IDs are not included. Automatic enhanced-measurement events are disabled.

Analytics is used only with your consent to understand aggregate website usage and improve PaintValues. Advertising storage, advertising user data, ad personalization, and Google Signals are disabled. Google Ireland Limited acts as an analytics service provider and may process data in other countries under Google's applicable transfer safeguards. Event-level and user-associated Analytics data are configured for two-month retention; aggregated reporting may remain available longer. See Google's Privacy Policy and business privacy information.

Independently of optional analytics, the site's hosting and network providers may automatically process an IP address, requested URL, browser or device details, timestamp, and security logs to deliver the site, maintain reliability, and prevent abuse. Those records are retained according to the providers' operational and security settings.

The support link opens your email service; the website does not receive that message through a form.

Children

PaintValues is a general-audience creative tool and is not submitted to store children’s categories. The mobile app does not collect user data. The website does not knowingly use analytics to profile children and does not load optional analytics without a browser consent choice.

Support messages and policy changes

If you contact support, your email provider and ours process the message and address outside the app. The developer uses that information to answer and retains it only as reasonably necessary for support, security, or legal records. Do not attach private images unless they are necessary for your request.

Material policy updates will be posted here with a revised effective date. App behavior and store privacy declarations will be updated before a mobile release changes app data handling. Website analytics changes will be reflected here before deployment.
